Textile waste occupies nearly 5% of all landfill space and only 15% percent of post textile waste are recycled. This project used textile waste as a material in creating a chair. All of the textile used in this project are a 100% recycled, it came from bedding makers trimmings.
The process of creating this started by sketching different wireframe concepts on what form this chair was going to take. Wire and magazine papers was used in creating a scale model to test the form. The trimmings were sawn together to form a yarn that was used to cover the welded metal frame. The seat is foam taken from a discarded mattress trimmed to fit.
